The Jacobite train ride is regarded as one of the most beautiful train rides in the world, with iconic landscapes around every corner!
When you travel by train, it is all about the journey..
Start your day by joining our luxury coach and travelling to Fort William where you’ll have time to explore the shops or grab some lunch (lunch not included) before boarding the famous Jacobite Steam Train which is the Hogwarts Express Styled Train used in The Harry Potter Films.
You’ll take in some impressive scenery as we make our way to Mallaig on the train. Upon arrival at Mallaig you’ll have some time to explore the shops, maybe enjoy a fish tea or some delicious ice cream.
Starting near the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis, it visits Britain’s most westerly mainland railway station, Arisaig; passes close by the deepest freshwater loch in Britain, Loch Morar and the shortest river in Britain, River Morar, finally arriving next to the deepest seawater loch in Europe, Loch Nevis!
Optional Extra – Mallaig Boat Cruise
Once in Mallaig you can join an additional boat cruise to Green Island on the Knoydart Peninsular where you will see seals relaxing on the rocks. The waters are frequently visited by a variety of birds, porpoises, dolphins, whales and basking sharks. This is an additional £20 per person. This runs from 3.30pm – 4.30pm
Optional Extra – Afternoon Tea
Allow me to set the scene if you will. You are sitting in the seat, in the famous Jacobite Steam Train carriage. Ahead, your vintage steam engine takes you on the greatest railway journey in the world between Fort William and Mallaig in Scotland; surely it doesn’t get better? Then along comes your delicious afternoon tea! This locally sources afternoon tea features a selection of freshly prepared hand-cut sandwiches and much more. This is an additional £15 per person.
